Stereo Resources
Hi Everyone,
I put up the first of what will be an extensive collection of GeoWall
content being produced here at Penn State. The first files are stereo movies
showing a molecular dynamics simulation of periclase (MgO) crystallization.
The movies are 71 seconds long and show the phase transition between a
supercooled liquid and crystal at 2500K. The crystallization is accompanied
by the transition from tetrahedral to octahedral Mg coordination and is very
interesting to watch.
Movies are available showing the simulation with and without bonds. The
stereo movies are 1280x480 resolution AVI files and look reasonable when
expanded to full screen. Higher image quality and playback performance is
possible by downloading the left & right 640x480 MPEG movie pairs and
viewing them with the free StereoMovie Maker application available from
http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stvmkr/. StereoMovie maker will play the movies in
stereo using either horizontal span or clone mode.
